Hydrographica is a Swedish chart producer specializing in high-detail maps of shallow, narrow, and hard-to-navigate areas in the archipelago. Their charts are often used as a supplement to the Swedish Maritime Administration’s official data, and include additional information—especially in natural harbours and tight passages.
In the Skippo app, you can use Hydrographica’s special charts if your subscription includes them. They are available either as a separate add-on or as part of the Premium navigation package.
What’s included with Hydrographica in Skippo?
Hydrographica’s special charts help you navigate safely in shallow or unfamiliar waters. When activated, the following features are available:
- 2-meter depth contour (compared to the official 3-meter contour from the Swedish Maritime Administration)
- Designated mooring spots in natural harbours and coves
- Aerial photos of selected natural harbours
-
Improved autorouting based on the 2-meter depth contour
Map Settings
Hydrographica special charts need to be manually enabled via Map Settings > Map Layers. The charts are only visible in areas where Hydrographica has conducted their own hydrographic surveys. These areas are indicated by green outlines on the map.
If you download offline maps, the Hydrographica charts will be included automatically—provided that Hydrographica is selected as your active map layer in the settings.
Designated mooring spots
In natural harbours where Hydrographica has conducted their own hydrographic surveys, recommended mooring locations are displayed directly on the chart:
• Blue lines indicate suitable mooring spots for motorboats
• Red lines indicate recommended mooring spots for sailboats
• Rock bolts and mooring rings are marked with symbols to help you choose the most appropriate mooring method
This makes it easier to quickly find a safe and suitable place to moor—even in unfamiliar or remote areas.
