Once you’ve reached your destination, you can activate Anchor Watch by tapping the life jacket icon (the safety menu) and selecting “Anchor Watch.”
Your anchor position will appear on the screen as an anchor icon, along with an indicator showing your boat’s current position. Adjust the anchor location by dragging the anchor icon to where you actually dropped the anchor. Once correctly placed, set your safety zone by dragging the radius slider.
When you’re ready, tap “Start Anchor Watch.” If you don’t want to activate the alarm, simply exit the view by tapping the back arrow “<”.
To use Anchor Watch, the following permissions are required:
- Notifications enabled
- Location access set to Always
- Precise location enabled
- Background app refresh enabled
Important for the alarm to work properly:
- Keep the device plugged in (recommended) or ensure the battery is fully charged – GPS monitoring uses significant power
- The device needs a clear view of the sky for accurate GPS positioning
- The Skippo app must be running in the background
- The device must stay onboard the boat
What happens if the alarm goes off?
If your boat leaves the safety zone, an alarm will sound. First, check whether the boat is actually drifting. You can silence the alarm while you investigate by tapping “Silence.”
If it was a false alarm, you may adjust the settings to make it less sensitive.
If the anchor has dragged, re-anchor and set a new Anchor Watch at the new location.
