Wind and Weather

Skippo's app shows wind and weather directly in the chart, so you can plan and navigate by actual conditions. You see the wind on the map, get a detailed forecast for a location, and can compare multiple weather sources.

The wind is shown as a moving color layer, the color shows the strength and the wind arrows the direction. The forecast extends up to 10 days ahead, so you can follow how the wind develops.

Turn on the wind layer with the weather button on the map.

You can also mark a specific location on the chart (by pressing a bit longer) to see temperature, wind, and precipitation.

Choose which source you want to use – SMHI, FMI, DMI or MET. How far ahead the forecast extends depends on the source.

Compare weather sources

If you want to weigh different forecasts against each other, choose Compare. Then you see SMHI, FMI, DMI and MET side by side.

Wind on the map is based on the weather model ICON7 (based on DWD's ICON model) with 7 km resolution and covers all of Europe. The weather forecast for a location is retrieved from SMHI, FMI, DMI or MET.

Wind and weather shows what you need to be aware of. The decisions at sea are always yours.

Wind and weather on the chart is included in the Smart and Premium subscriptions.

Wind Roses

In the details for nature harbors, wind roses are shown, which show at which wind directions the harbor is protected. You can also filter nature harbors by desired wind direction to find a safe position.

Together with wind arrows and weather forecasts, this helps you plan and choose the right harbor for your boat. Wind protection is an estimate based on Skippo's own assessments and user-generated data. Found an error? Report it here. (link)

Note: Wind roses are only available to subscribers of Hamnguiden. Read more about Hamnguiden here. (link)
